GINGERBREAD COOKIES (or spice cookies depending on what you have)
- 2.5 cups flour
- .6 cups sugar
- .25 tsp salt
- 1 tsp baking soda (or 2 tsp baking pwdr)
- 1 tbs ginger (or allspice/cinnamon/whatever)
- 1 tsp nutmeg
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- .5 cup room temp. butter (1 stick) salted or unsalted whatever
- .5 cup molasses
- 2 tbs heavy cream (or 3 tbs milk)
Combine flour, sugar, salt, baking soda/powder, and all spices. Now get the butter and cut into pieces. Now combine butter with all dry ingredients such that you now have a crumbly mixture that resembles uh, well, crumbs. Get a small saucepan and but it on your stovetop. Add molasses and heavy cream to your saucepan. Mix molasses mixture well in saucepan untill it begins to bubble. Turn off heat and take saucepan to you mixing bowl. Add molasses mixture to your crumbs. Mix two solutions together until it resembles a cookie dough.
Now, you have two options: scoop or flatten. You can scoop the dough into balls and drop them on your cookie sheet, and they will be thick, chewy gingerbread lumps (traditional style and v good :>). Or, you can roll the dough onto a board thinly and cut lil stickmen, stars, hearts, whatever and bake those. The flattened method can either be chewy or a nice crispy cookie depending on how long you cook it.
bake at 350 F for about 15 minutes, or until the kitchen smells good and they are the right texture you want.
